Today I decided to start a blog with regular updates on life through the lens of my camera.
A little about me.
I was born in Poole Dorset a little over 65 years ago and I started taking pictures with a Halina camera when I was 15. Since then I have photographed many different genres but my favourite subjects are portraiture and sport.
Having worked in the hairdressing industry most of my life I have a natural instinct for communicating with people and making them feel as ease when being photographed. The challenge of sport photography is being able to anticipate when to press the shutter to capture that moment of brilliance or skill.
In the 50 years I have been waving a camera about I have enjoyed seeing my work published in magazines, books and podcasts as well as having success in competitions. I currently hold the trophy for best 'Digitally Projected Image' from The Southern Counties Photographic Federation.
Biggest influence on my photography has to be David Penprase, his books are an inspiration and I never tire of looking at them.
I am a proud Dorset man having lived here all my life, we have some beautiful countryside as well as the Jurassic Coastline to photograph and one of the places I intend to revisit this year is Mupe Bay, it's a long slog of a walk through the army ranges from Lulworth Cove but breathtakingly beautiful once there.
